I. Causes of canine pneumonia

This disease is mainly caused by the respiratory system being invaded by viruses and bacteria. Colds, overexertion, improper feeding and management, and poor living environments can all induce pneumonia. Allergies and parasite infections can also directly lead to pneumonia.
II. Symptoms of canine pneumonia
The early symptoms of canine pneumonia are acute bronchitis, such as runny nose, cough, and bronchial rales. Lethargy, loss of appetite or inability to move, body temperature rising above 40℃, increased heart rate, rapid or difficult breathing. Percussion shows obvious focal dullness in the lungs. It mainly appears in the apical lobe or subcardiac lobe. Auscultation can hear moist rales, crepitations and harsh bronchial breathing sounds.

III. Treatment of canine pneumonia
Strengthening nursing, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory, relieving cough and reducing sputum, stopping exudation, promoting absorption and symptomatic treatment are the basic principles for treating pneumonia. For dogs with severe pneumonia, attention should be paid to anti-shock and symptomatic treatment. When pleurisy occurs, pleural effusion should be aspirated in time and antibacterial drugs should be injected into the pleural cavity to prevent recurrence.
In fact, the most effective treatment method is to first determine the source of infection and then administer effective drugs according to the source of infection. Therefore, X-ray diagnosis is only to determine the severity of canine pneumonia, and sampling is also needed to further select drugs. In addition, fluid supplementation is also very important. Because when infected with pneumonia, the lungs need to expel the infectious substances through coughing. If there is insufficient fluid in the dog at this time and the sputum in the lungs is too viscous, it will cause difficulty in excretion.
Another effective way to relieve and treat pneumonia is aerosol therapy. It can be used to help expectorate sputum and administer drugs. In terms of diet, it is recommended to provide dogs with highly digestible and high-protein foods. If the dog is in poor condition, nutrient solution needs to be intravenously injected or a gastric tube needs to be implanted for feeding.
